Time Difference Amplifier
As the process technology advances, power supply voltage scales down while transistor switching speed increases. For analog circuit design, the reduced supply voltage means degraded voltage-domain resolution while the high-speed transistors provides improved time-domain resolution. We are facing a new paradigm that time-domain resolution of a digital signal edge transition is superior to voltage-domain resolution of analog signal.
In this situation, time difference amplifiers(TDA) are the first to be required for time-domain operation, as well as time to digital converters(TDC) which is a front end block to convert a time-domain “analog” signal into a time-domain “digital” signal. Now, We designed high-resolution TDA using closed loop feedback control to obtain robust gain.
Furthermore, we are thinking about and developing new application using TDA.
